SHOUT SHOUT–Let it all out–PART 4

Yes you may recognise the title of this post as being a Tears for Fears classic from the 80’s – well that is if you are old enough. This series of posts is about something else, it is about a project called SHOUT & DeforestACTION.

SHOUT is a global student voice project in association with Microsoft, Smithonian institute and TakingITGlobal where young people all over the world can explore, connect and act.

For more information and to download the teachers guide visit here: http://shoutlearning.org/

DeforestACTION is one of the specific projects connected to SHOUT which is all about raising the awareness and trying to stop the deforestation of rainforests in Indonesia. You can read more about this and more about the projects related to this on the TakingITGlobal site: http://www.tigweb.org/tiged/projects/deforestaction/

So a for the last month or so some of our Year 7 students at school have been working towards some of these projects. You can take part in challenges that have already been designed and created by others or make up your own.

In this fourth and final post in the SHOUT series for now till September when we will begin projects again. Our students have once again created their own SHOUT challenge called ‘Tree-internet’ This is where students from all around the world can create their own websites devoted to raising awareness about deforestation using the free website tool Weebly: http://www.weebly.com/

It is really quick and simple to set up and in short time your voice can go global. An example test site set up by one of our Year 7 students as a test in just half an hour can be viewed here: http://savetheworldin1minute.weebly.com/index.html
