BBC’s Newsround visits our Chickens

Hayley & Dave film in the livestock area

On Wednesday our Year 7 students were very excited to have a visit from Hayley a reporter from Newsround . They were doing a story about getting more schools to use free range eggs rather than eggs from battery chickens. You are probably aware that we have a small livestock farm at our school. In fact you probably have heard or have checked out our pigs or rescue battery hens (now free range) on our pigcam or eggcam www.saltash.net/livestock

We have been raising awareness of this issue since February 2008 you may have seen the blog post on the project that our students created back then:

It is fantastic to see our students giving their opinions on national television about a project that they created and produced all by themselves. This is great eveidence of the strong and effective student voice that we have in our school. You can check out the programme on iplayer:

What do your students think about this debate?
