SHOUT SHOUT– let it all out PART 1

Yes you may recognise the title of this post as being a Tears for Fears classic from the 80’s – well that is if you are old enough. This series of posts is about something else, it is about a project called SHOUT & DeforestACTION.

SHOUT is a global student voice project in association with Microsoft, Smithonian institute and TakingITGlobal where young people all over the world can explore, connect and act.

DeforestACTION is one of the specific projects connected to SHOUT which is all about raising the awareness and trying to stop the deforestation of rainforests in Indonesia. You can read more about this and more about the projects related to this on the TakingITGlobal site: http://www.tigweb.org/tiged/projects/deforestaction/

So a for the last month or so some of our Year 7 students at school have been working towards some of these projects. You can take part in challenges that have already been designed and created by others or make up your own.

In this first post our students have been working on challenge 6 called Song for a cause see here: http://shout.tiged.org/land/assignments/?id=1000311

Students wrote and performed their own song about Deforestation using Microsoft’s songsmith which is a fantastic free piece of software. You can read more about it in this blog post: http://bit.ly/dzu5Qh

The students just within less than 1 hour created some fantastic songs have a listen below:

This is a rap by Rhys & Kavan – http://bit.ly/pPy3mL

This is a catchy swinging tune about the Orangutan’s – http://bit.ly/oSc6K4
