Student voice showcase at Plymouth E-Learning Conference 2011 #pelc11 PART 2–Lampton School

It is exactly around 2 months since this event happened but I have only just had the chance to sit down and write a series of blog posts about this event. I have been reflecting on it ever since really. This is the second of several posts about the Plymouth E-Learning Conference but focusing on the kids. It was the first time we had a real flavour of ‘what the kids think’ and as Steve Wheeler AKA @timbuckteeth said in his blog post after the event: http://steve-wheeler.blogspot.com/2011/04/its-about-kids.html

“Yet Day 1 really belonged to the children, and the conference reverberated with their energy. It was a joy to have them joining us at the conference, and we will certainly be planning more children focused events next year, because let’s face it, our kids are not the future – they are the now”

Here is a fantastic post about #Pelc11 in particular about the student voice showcase from Matt Lingard, you can follow him on twitter @mattlingard or check out his blog here:

The second school represented at the student voice showcase was Lampton school in Hounslow. I have known about Lampton school and the brilliant work they are doing there since a couple of years when I connected with Juliette Heppell one of the teachers there on twitter. We have been collaborating off and on ever since, recently some of my students from saltash.net connected to Juliette’s live at BETT 2011 via skype from sunny Cornwall and more recently we have been working together on an exciting project called cloudlearn more information here: http://www.cloudlearn.net/

It was fantastic to see Juliette’s students represented at the conference via skype, it was brilliant to hear them talk about how they were using technology to enhance their learning. They were giving some great examples of using mobile apps, skype, facebook and many others. You can find more information on what they are doing on Juliette’s blog http://julietteheppell.blogspot.com/ or you can follow Juliette on twitter @julietteheppell

The students were extremely confident and were amazing representatives for the school and all of the young learners out there!
