John Wood has a great story to tell starting with leaving his job at Microsoft to basically do this: “What began as a vision to share my love of reading with children of a rural Nepali village has quickly become a global movement of promoting literacy and education. By the end of 2009, we counted over 7500 libraries, 830 schools, and nearly 8800 girls attending school by way of Room to Read scholarships. We plan to open our 10,000th library in 2010 and impact the lives of 5 million children in the developing world.”

I can’t tell the story as good as John can so please watch the video clip.

You can also read more about this project at the room to read site: http://www.roomtoread.org/Page.aspx?pid=209

Are you involved in the room to read programme? Or are you thinking of getting involved? I would be interested to hear what you are planning to do?
