One way ticket to Timbuckteeth

On Monday we had the pleasure of ‘Steve Wheeler’ aka @timbuckteeth run a Masters session on a new E-learning module that 8 teachers from Saltash.net Community School had begun. It is an excellent opportunity for our teachers to work with Steve, he brings in so much expertise and experience in this field and it is a really good professional development opportunity for the teachers who are involved. Steve led the session giving input on his top 5 tools that help him to do his job, he writes about them in a post here about the tools of his trade: http://bit.ly/cQVZXX

It was really interesting to start with this because it made us all reflect on what our top 5 tools would be? Are these the ones that you simply can’t do without or the ones that you use the most? What would your top 5 tools be? Steve then talked through his 20 hot topics in E-learning which really did spark the debate between the teachers, there were some really interesting conversations going on, Steve did a great job facilitating and making us all think critically about what he was saying, it was very interesting. On a personal note a couple of things that I really didn’t know much about and am now very interested in was Open scholarship and Cloud Computing. Do you know what they are? I will probably be carrying out some research in these areas over the next few months as part of this module so watch this space.

We completed the session by teachers signing up to a wet paint wiki where we will be collaborating and have already started generating ideas for our own action research projects. Are you carrying out any E-learning based research and if so what you looking into? I would be really interested to hear what you are doing.
