Why did the chicken cross the road? Happy 2nd birthday!

I woke up this morning and realised that it is 2 years to the day to when I first set up my blog. I can’t believe that it has been two years, it is funny reflecting on this. I start to think why did I even start? Well there were two main reasons – the first was to become more reflective as a practitioner, it was a great way to verbalise my thoughts on the things I was doing, a great vehicle for metacognition. The second was to enable more opportunities for discussion, collaboration and to provide support for other teachers all over the world. After two years do I feel that this has happened? Well yes I do and I am really pleased of how it has gone and I thank all the people who take the time to read it, who give me ideas, who give me support and those that give me feedback – thank you all.

So what is next for the blog? Well as it is the end of a year (blogging birthday wise) I guess I should set some new years resolutions, here they are, I will try to stick to them:

1) I Will do my best to respond more to the comments people leave – I feel incredibly guilty about this but often I don’t get to respond till long after the comment is left and sometimes not at all, I am sorry about this and will try my best to change that.

2) I will do my best to allow more opportunities for guest blogs for others who want a place to have a voice if they haven’t got the own blog or if they want to have a slightly different audience.

3) Finally I ‘may’ try to spend more time changing and upgrading the presentation of my blog, many people say they like the appearance but I never update it, I never keep all the widgets working, this is because the most important element of the blog for me is the content so that is what I spend my time on, but I will give this a try too.

Thank you if you are a regular subscriber or reader of this blog and those that flit in and out – thank you ultimately helping me be a better teacher which obviously benefits my students – so thank you.

  1. Congratulations – You write a lovely blog which I shamefully don’t visit enough. Interestingly I did a google search “primary teacher blog” and you popped up at the bottom of the first page. Quite a feat for a secondary teacher but perhaps indicative of the inclusive nature of your blog.

Here’s to another year of blogging. My 3rd anniversary is 14th August!

  2. Hi Juliet, thanks for the lovely comments! That is cool! Happy aniversary for you on the 14th – I missed it – I enjoy reading your blog too thanks 🙂
