Chicken run

Those of you who know me may know me for a couple of things, I have a connection to chickens (in certain circles I can be nicknamed the ‘chicken man’, the second thing is that I am certainly not the fittest person that you may know.)

Putting these things aside I will be attempting to run the Plymouth Half Marathon on Sunday 29th May 2011 (it is the hardest half marathon around of course as Plymouth has too many really big hills). I think I registered for this after feeling on a high straight after the 10K in October for cancer research and now with 25 days to go, my running partner Ben has had to pull out for health reasons and the realisation that 13 miles is quite a long distance that I have certainly never ran or close to I am starting to feel a little nervous and a tiny bit excited.

Me and Ben also agreed to run or attempt to run the half marathon on behalf of one of our colleague’s family. Nicki’s cousins are currently fundraising for their daughter Ellie who sadly passed away in March this year due to a rare genetic disorder called Zellweggers syndrome which meant she only lived for 6 months. Ellie was born at Leighton Hospital in Crewe which is strange as that is where I was also born many years ago and many miles from here. You can read more about Ellie, the family and why they are fundraising here on her blog: http://littlemissellieprince.blogspot.com/

Myself and Ben were not going to run for any charity but after hearing Ellie’s story from Nicki we just had to raise money on their behalf. So if you would like to support Ellie and her family by helping raise money for more equipment on the ward to make more children’s stay more comfortable then you can support me in the half marathon.

If you would like to sponsor any amount as every bit really does count then please use the just giving site here: http://www.justgiving.com/Ellie-Prince

They are only £200 short or so from £20K so please help!
