As part of the International Inspiration partnership which is an international project that will reach 12 million children from 20 different countries by 2012 we are partnered for the next few years with the Government Secondary School in Karu, Abuja in Nigeria. We made our visit to the school in March 2010 and recently it was the first time our Nigerian partners had come to our school in Cornwall.
One of the highlights of the week for me and our Nigerian teachers was the to join up with the rest of the International Inspiration Cornish team which consists of several other schools in Cornwall and their respective partner schools in Nigeria in Penzance. We were officially invited to take part in the Mazey day festivities and part of this was to dress in traditional Nigerian dress and walk through the streets of Penzance with other very important people.
Our Nigerian visitors had a fantastic and amazing week that they will never forget. As they parted on the Monday after the final evaluation day there was not a dry eye in the place. We are positive that the partnership over the next couple of years will go from strength to strength.
