The power of Web 2.0 & Twitter

Wow all I can say is wow – My PLN never lets me down so thank you everyone! On Tuesday 13th July I will be doing a presentation on web 2.0 tools at the Vital TeachMeet in Exeter. The event is for teachers in the south west of England to share excellent practice in Web 2.0 Technology and Learning Social Education. Yes I know what you are saying why am I going then? ha ha!

So anyway I was preparing my presentation on yes you guessed it the new number one presentation tool of the moment?

Yes Prezi – check out Jane Hart’s top 100 tools for learning and you can see that Prezi is one of the brand new kids on the block. In fact when I was following all the tweets from ISTE 2010 last week it was noted that everyone and I mean everyone was using prezi! mmm Death by Prezi springs to mind however I have only used it a few times and so for me it is still new and shiny and fantastic! http://c4lpt.co.uk/recommended/index.html

Anyway so to help in my presentation I called upon my PLN and I tweeted this out:

Chickenman sending out an SOS

Within a couple of hours I had over a 100 tweets about this (check out the hashtag!) Thank you to all those who tweeted. I very quickly counted them up on my chicken fingers well I mean toes and the top 5 in no paticular order where:

Prezi

Glogster

Edmodo

Voicethread

Wallwisher

If you want a more meaningful and exact analysis with more data then check out Jane’s link.

However more importantly was that it threw up ones that I have never heard of before such as:

ToonDoo
Xtranormal
Vuvox
Myebooks
Storybird
Lino
Primary pad
Kidblog
Jamstudio
teacher lingo blog
Gliffy
WordPress
Fuzzwich
Go animate
scratch
Picnic
Blabberize
BlogED
Cover it live
Wix.com
Bitstrips
Kerpoof
Tagxedo
SmartKiddies
kidblog
twiducate
sweetsearch

I thought I was fairly up to date with them but I guess it just shows that you can never keep up! Check out this post on Web 2.0 http://bit.ly/cgL9vO – will be sharing my prezi and thoughts after the event on Tuesday. Let me know your thoughts on all this as always!

  1. Not sure I agree with your analysis … I too kept track of your replies … Wordle and GDocs, to name but two, outpolled all but one of your top 5 listing. What gives?
