The big ‘interro’BANG theory

Yes you are probably as confused as I am writing this post about ‘interrobang’ but it isn’t that hard to understand once you have a look at it:

I was shown this by some teachers at the Microsoft Partners in Learning Institute in Seattle recently. I think it is a really cool website and I plan to have a go at using this when I get back to school in September. I was also suprised to learn that the word ‘interrobang’ actually exists – it basically is a punctuation mark that combines a question mark and an exclamation point, to be used at the end of a sentence like, “Isn’t this amazing?!” Still confused? Yes me too!

What is it?

“InterroBang is a game in which you complete real-world missions to win prizes, learn problem solving and connect with others to change the world. It is for students, grades 6-12 (that is 11-18 years of age for us Brits). In order to be eligible for prizes, students must register through their teachers or parents.” taken from the interrobang site.

It has been devised by the Microsoft Partners in Learning programme in association with others:

When you register on there which is free to do so – a lot of the missions are quite American but some are definitely suitable also you can customize and create your own challenges which other moderators and teachers then give you feedback on. It seems like quite a fun community and definitely worth trying out with your classes to see if they like it or not.

If you like the look at this and plan to possibly use it then please let me know as we may be able to collaborate on some missions with my classes.
