What happens when a Physics teacher teaches personal hygiene?

This Tuesday I had they great privilege to be invited by The Plymouth University Education Society to a Q & A to a lecture full of student teachers. I was on a panel consisting of some outstanding people who have made extremely positive contributions education over many years. Yes I know what you are saying why was I invited then? Well I am not sure I think they just wanted an idiot who likes to dress up as a chicken and that was basically it.

The whole event tackled questions from the audience ranging from What is education for? to whether we thought we should have a National Curriculum or not? There were some fantastic thoughts from @timbuckteeth @philipselbie among others and special thanks goes to @ethinking for chairing it.

The event was videoed and clips will be available soon on the internet I am sure you will want to hear my story about my old physics teacher teaching us about how often we should clean our genitals! (this was a serious story relating to a question regarding personal development and religious education in schools)

@Timbuckteeth has written a blog post about this which is worth reading http://steve-wheeler.blogspot.com/2010/11/personalised-learning.html and once again special thanks to @plymedsociety and all those who organised such a fantastic event.
